Now that hip-hop has fully bloomed and penetrated almost every facet of pop culture, it's become clear that there is just no musical genre in Uganda that can currently compare and its most witnessed when many of those who are starting out to do music especially the young, their interest is mostly in hip-hop music.
The news is up and coming rapper Friction Vanlee did a over 5-minute diss-track punched with wordplay and rhymes aimed at a couple of hip-hop artists. So we caught up with him for an interview……

With a voice that shifts seamlessly between melodic, blunt and humorous, Uganda`s hip-hop Next Up artist Raeda King is making rap to a whole new beat. The Mbuya native may have picked up cues from the first album he ever bought—GNL Zamba’s Koi Koi(Riddles Of Life)—eventually manifesting his dreams by getting other influences from international rappers like J. Cole and TI at the tender age of 13.

Nas and Hit-Boy recently released their “King’s Disease 3” album to a shower of praises. Nas continues to showcase his top tier lyricism, while Hit-Boy continues to be nasty with the beats. With celebrations for the album still in effect, the duo shared the visual for the track, “Michael & Quincy”.

B-Threy’s Nicyo Gituma was released back in July of 2020 features a relatively new genre of hip hop in Rwanda known as Kinyatrap. Pioneered by hip hop artist Bushali, Kinyatrap consists of a form of trap music that is lyric heavy as well as localized in Rwanda that integrates Kinyarwanda in its songs. Kinyarwanda is one of the major languages spoken by about ten million people in Rwanda. Bushali had the help of B-Threy (IG: @b.threy) and other artists to coin this new trap music unique to Rwanda

According to ambassador Paul Mukumbya, the consul general of Uganda in Mombasa, the conference was organised to create partnerships between key players in the tourism sectors in Uganda and the Kenya Coast.
“As clearly spelt out, tourist arrivals in Uganda in 2021 stood at 512,945. Out these, 326,387 were from Kenya, which translates to 63.63% of all arrivals in Uganda. Between January and March 2022, close to 95,000 Kenyans visited Uganda for various reasons. There is increasing demand for Kenyan visitors to Uganda due to various events that have taken place in Kampala such as Golf and Rugby tournaments, festivals, music concerts among others,” he said.
